Garden Lighting Installation and Outdoor Electrical Upgrades – Templestowe Electrician
This Templestowe garden lighting project was part of a larger landscaping makeover, including a new pool and redesigned garden beds. The homeowner wanted to create a space that was just as impressive at night as it was during the day. After an on-site consultation, we recommended a combination of black bollard lights to line the pathways and adjustable spike lights to highlight key plants and architectural features. We also replaced an outdated wall light on the front pillar to modernise the entry, and discussed future lighting options to support the evolving outdoor design.

Choosing the right garden lighting is about more than looks—it’s about balancing style with safety and functionality. Bollard lights are great for defining pathways and improving visibility underfoot, while spike lights are ideal for creating visual drama by casting light upward onto trees, shrubs, or textured walls. Once the customer confirmed their lighting selections, we ordered in the fittings and scheduled the works in stages to suit their availability.

Bollard and Spike Light Installation for Landscape Lighting and Pathway Illumination
To get the lighting infrastructure in place, we began with trenching and cabling—carefully digging shallow, hand-dug trenches under paths and through garden beds, making sure the newly finished landscaping stayed intact. Our team installed the Havit bollard and spike lights with precision, spacing them out for even illumination and maximum impact. When installed correctly by a licensed electrician, garden lighting systems are not only beautiful but built to last, with weather-rated fittings and correctly rated drivers and wiring for long-term performance.

Outdoor lighting doesn’t just enhance the look of your home—it can improve everyday living too. Well-lit paths reduce the risk of trips and falls, while lighting around the home’s perimeter can deter intruders and help guests safely find their way at night. In this garden, the result was a vibrant, layered lighting effect that made the space feel polished and welcoming long after sunset.

Smart Outdoor Upgrades and a Functional Finishing Touch
While we were on site, the next-door neighbour came over to ask about the job—and ended up requesting a quote for similar lighting at their own home. Meanwhile, our customer asked to include a few more electrical improvements: a floodlight near the pool pump enclosure, a light and RCBO for the shed, and a deck light replacement after the originally supplied ones turned out to be too small. We also upgraded the daylight sensor on the front garden lights to include a timer function, giving them more control over when the lights switch on and off.

In some cases, the customer supplied their own fittings, and we adjusted the invoice accordingly. From the cabling and controls to the fitting and final testing, this project shows how professionally installed garden lighting can elevate a landscaping project and deliver lasting safety, convenience, and style.
