Storm Damage Leads to Urgent Power Supply Upgrade in Noble Park
When a severe storm hit Noble Park, one of our local customers was left in a tough situation. The main power cable to their home had been ripped off during the storm, damaging the junction box, barge board, and the point of attachment (POA)—the key connection point where power lines from the street link to the house. With no power and visible damage to the front of the property, they reached out to Kenner Electrics for help.
We attended promptly for a site inspection, where we assessed the damage, took measurements and photos, and explained the full scope of works. The job required coordination with the customer’s home insurance provider, so we prepared a detailed quote that could be submitted for approval. Between the storm damage, being without power, and needing to deal with insurers, it could have been an overwhelming experience—but we made it as simple and stress-free as possible by guiding the customer through the process and handling the technical side of things from start to finish.
Full Electrical Supply Upgrade and Point of Attachment Rebuild
The first step was to prepare the site and complete pre-truck appointment works. This included installing a new meter box and switchboard enclosure. We reinforced the fascia with new timber framing so the POA hook could be securely mounted, and ran new 16mm TPS mains cabling from the point of attachment through to the switchboard.
We then upgraded the switchboard, reusing the existing enclosure and wiring it with a new 63A main switch and Hager RCBOs to provide modern, individual protection on each subcircuit. We also installed a new earth electrode and bonded the water pipe to meet safety standards. By managing the coordination with the electricity distributor, energy retailer, and the independent electrical inspector, we made sure the upgrade was smooth, compliant, and efficient—saving the homeowner time and stress.

On the final visit, we installed the new overhead fuse box, sealed the enclosure to keep it weatherproof, and met with the inspector onsite for certification. Once the inspection was passed, we stayed on site to coordinate with the electricity distributor’s truck crew, who arrived to reconnect power to the home.

From dealing with insurance to organising inspections and liaising with the linesmen, we handled it all—so they didn’t have to.
